We are a non profit organization interested in making our community a vibrant and beautiful place. We meet the second Wednesday of every month (except Dec.) at 6:00PM. Our next meeting is at Amiro's Restaurant meeting room.
We recently had a committee revitalize McIntyre Park adding a beautiful greenspace and gazebo to downtown High Prairie. The grand opening was held August 26, 2017.
We currently have a committee organizing a Community Garden initiative. People without garden space can grow food in raised boxes. The more participation, the more yield and maybe enough to contribute to our local Food Bank! But it is just a start.
Our main event is the Winter Light-up. Typically the last Friday of November, we have a Santa Parade that goes though downtown and ends at Civic Square (Town office). The winner of a sponsored colouring contest, a child 10 or younger, gets the honour of "Flipping the Switch" that gives power to all the lights volunteers have diligently arranged at Civic Square. The beautiful display of lights and decorations is enjoyed by a huge crowd that later join Santa, Mrs. Claus and their Elves at the Fire Hall behind the Town office. Everyone can have cookies and hot cocoa and the children are able to meet Santa and receive a small treat. Many businesses and other organizations hold shopping extravaganzas or events to coincide with Winter Light-up which makes it a huge community event!
